Jallikattu ban is fantastic. In fact, I find killing animals for anything other than self-protection unjustified; so, yes, I don’t kill and eat animals with the exception of eggs (which is because I don’t see the chick inside the egg though I know it exists; it’s a convenient exception). Anyways, I don’t hate meat eaters. But I do have a problem when animals are not only killed for food but also for pleasure. And sometimes this pleasure is derived by torturing animals like Halaal meat. I think all these kinds of pleasure seekings should be banned irrespective of religions or traditions. Jallikattu is the right step in the right direction. Let us see how far it can go.
